The controversial anime “Kite” by Yasuomi Umetsu is on its way to its live-action adaptation debut after its North American film rights were purchased by Anchor Bay. The 1998 “Kite” anime was about a schoolgirl assassin named Sawa who hunts down those she believes responsible for her parents’ death and included scenes of rape [hence the controversy]. India Eisley plays the role of Sawa with Samuel Jackson set to play Inspector Karl Aker.
“Kite” is expected to have a release date in 2014.
